Duathlons are a great way for anyone to experience a multisport event without agonizing over having to complete an open water swim. The Gear West Duathlon is a great season opener with a cross-country run and a surprisingly challenging bike course on rolling hills. Both running portions of the race are through the school's ball fields and an orchard, in true cross-country style. The 30k bike portion of the race features some of the most scenic rural roads west of Minneapolis.
Geared as the most affordable duathlon in the Midwest, the 2014 Gear West Duathlon will be held on Sunday May 18th at the Orono High School in Orono, MN. The duathlon is a spring classic Run-Bike-Run event for every level of multisport athlete put on by Gear West Bike and Triathlon. For 21 years, this race has been a professionally run event, featuring some of the best athletes in the Midwest.
Whether you are just beginning your multisport racing experience, looking for a new fitness goal, or an elite athlete, you will enjoy the fitness test that this race offers near the beginning of the season.
